How to market a jumping castle rental business in South Africa

Owning the castle is the easy part — getting booked out every weekend is the actual business. The good news: you don’t need an ad budget. Here’s how small South African operators fill their calendars, mostly for free.

1. WhatsApp is your booking office

Most bookings in SA happen on WhatsApp. Set up a WhatsApp Business profile with your area, a catalogue of your castles (photo + price each), and quick-reply templates. Post the odd status update of a clean setup at a party — it’s free advertising to everyone who has your number.

2. Work the Facebook groups

This is where local party demand lives:

  • Join your suburb/town community and “buy & sell” groups and the local moms’ groups, and post real photos of real setups (follow each group’s rules).
  • List on Facebook Marketplace — people search it for hire.
  • Keep a simple business page so you look legit and people can tag you.

3. Get found on Google

Create a free Google Business Profile so “jumping castle hire [your town]” turns you up on the map. It costs nothing and puts you in front of people ready to book.

4. Milk referrals and repeat business

A happy customer is your cheapest marketing. Save every client’s number, ask them to refer friends, and offer a small repeat-booking or referral discount. Parents plan parties every year — stay in their phone.

5. Build partnerships

One good relationship books you out for a season: party venues, event planners, schools and crèches, and church halls all need castles regularly. Drop off a price list and a few photos; be the reliable operator they call first.

6. Let photos and reviews do the selling

Bright photos of clean setups (and happy kids, with parents’ permission) plus screenshots of good reviews are what turn an enquiry into a booking. A tired, faded castle photographs badly and loses bookings — which is exactly why operators run commercial-grade units that still look great after a season.

7. Answer fast

Party parents message several operators at once. The first to reply — with a clear price and an easy booking — usually wins. Speed beats everything.

8. Recycle your fleet

When you upgrade or change stock, sell your older units here free to fund the new ones — and watch the listings for other operators’ fleets coming up cheap.
